31st May 2007 - Derby Gig.

Well it's the first full day that I have off for the summer but yet I'm not having a uber lie in or even just a chilled out day. I'm working with Rob, of UKSLC and Cnics Audio, on a gig in Derby with his band, The Beatles Experience, before loading up the van and then going down to Aylesbury to do a gig with Gareth tomorrow night.

I was up and off for 10AM having had a quick breakfast, and fixing the vibrating inlet pipe to the cold water tank in the loft which some clown at Tay never managed to screw down - at all - all those years ago, to get my 11:10 train down to Derby where I was to meet Rob. We met up and went to the lock up where we loaded the van with most of the kit for Tomorrows gig and then the extra bits for the gig that we did with The Beatles Experience. It took a few hours due to waiting around for a couple of things to come back from dry hire. We got off to the gig, parked up and had some food at a takeaway....and then just as we elect to start the get in via the clubs fire exit the heavens open with the heaviest down pour that I have seen all year! After a few manic minutes of getting the required kit, thankfully not including the two stacks of W8 that were in the van, we got in....and the rain stopped...fantastic!

Anyway the rest of The Beatles Experience arrived and the set up commenced. Once set up we went to the green room - which was actually the entire upper floor of the club! Which by the way was Scooch in Ripley. The gig went well, however my moulded ear defenders got noticed as a group of lad must have thought I was blind as they persisted during the evening to but two fingers to their ear and talk into their sleeves...They were a bit drunk or just stupid as they must have know I could have seen them but it didn't bother me - at the end of the night I could still hear perfectly.

After the band finished - which happened once the band played three extra songs that they didn't expect to play, as the crowd effectively wouldn't let them leave the stage, the pack down commenced. We got the kit in the van in about 50 minutes then headed back to the lock up in Derby to get rid of kit we had in the van and didn't need for the gig on Friday then added the bits and pieces that wouldn't fit in the van before. Grabbed a couple of pizzas, for consumption in the van, and set off to Aylesbury at about 1:30-2AM.

We arrived in Aylesbury, after a journey spent listening to war of the world and having some subdued chat, at 3:55AM. Straight to Gareths house and to sleep. Rob had already not got any sleep the night before after working at another gig where he drove back over night so he was out like a light!

Looking forward to the gig tomorrow...although getting up at 8:30AM after getting to sleep at about 5AM sounds a bit harsh - not sure that we need to be doing the get in that early but the organiser wants it so it shall be done!

30th May 2007 - The Start of my Summer!

Well after the hard work of the exam period I am happy now to think about the time that I have got off during the summer, totalling almost four months. My final exam, which I took this morning, went much better than I thought when I wrote my blog last night. I was quite worried about going in there and just going blank but alas it didn't happen and I am quite pleased with my performance!

Overall the exams have gone as I would have expected really, some hard times but then I came out of most of the exams thinking that I had done reasonably well, excluding ELEC1710 which was just a complete and utter bitch.

Other than the exam today I went out driving with my Mum, dropping my Dad off and then picking him up at/from the opticians in Morley town centre. I have become to realise how frustrating it is when someone is giving you mixed of confusing directions when you approach a junction it isn't half confusing and, as a learner driver, you get very frustrated as you think because you are changing lanes etc that it is you that is at fault when you are driving to the avaliable information. Having said that my Mum is pretty good at giving directions. My sister still has the fun of driving with mum to come, or is that the other way round?

So, onwards to the summer, which starts with three days away working on two gigs in two different places, the first in Derby and the second in Aylsbury, which I'm looking forward to but know will be a hell of a lot of work. I will probably have to make my posts for tomorrow and Friday on Saturday as I probably won't be near a computer that I can use for this.

29th May 2007 - Last day of revision!

Well it's here, I have my last exam for the year tomorrow! So this is the last day of revision before the two hour exam which states the beginning of a summer of freedom! I don't have anymore uni until the middle of September, just holidays, gigs, work and chilling! Going to be fantastic.

Owing to this brilliant occasion I have started this new blog which I tend to ues like a diary, as blogs were kind of intended to be - however it does occur to me that I will probably loose interest in doing it and then it will just sit idle until I ressurect it when I get the blogging bug again at some strange hour of the night. Anyway, I suppose I should get on with the entry so that I can get to bed and get some sleep before my exam!

Well today has been abit dull really. I have been cramming for my exam tomorrow which I'm fairly nervous about as I thought I had the subject pretty much in my head but it looks like I was wrong, not much I can do about it now though! Other than the sevenish hours of revision I also enjoyed a drive with my Mum. I'm still practicing for my impending test, which I can't wait to pass! All in all the driving went very well, I'm feeling confident and calm behind the wheel so things are looking good - I just have to nail the manouvers like I know I can!

Right well it's 12:16AM and I have my alarms set for 6:30AM to get up and get off for my exam.
